Leymah Gbowee, 2011 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, is a peace activist and women’s rights advocate. Gbowee is the founding executive director of the Institute on Gender, Law, and Transformative Peace at the City University of New York. She holds an M.A. in conflict transformation from Eastern Mennonite University and has received honorary degrees from various universities around the world.
