Mahmoud Amin el-Gamal is professor of economics and statistics and Chair in Islamic Economics, Finance and Management at Rice University. His most recent book is Oil, Dollars, Debt, and Crises: The Global Curse of Black Gold (2013, with Amy Jaffe). He holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Cairo, an M.S. from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University.
