Manuela Kalsky is Edward Schillebeeckx Chair for Theology and Society at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, director of the Theological Research Centre of the Dutch Dominicans (DSTS), and in charge of the multimedia project "New We" in the Netherlands, which aims to strengthen social cohesion and the capacity of people to live with others from different cultures and religions. In recent years, Kalsky’s research has focused primarily on religion in a pluralist society. At present, she is in charge of a research project "Multiple religious belonging: hermeneutical and empirical explorations of hybrid religiosity" at Free University, and she is directing a research project on the same subject at DSTS. She is regularly involved in public debate in the Netherlands on the role of religion in a multicultural and multi-religious society.
