Maria Cristobalina Moreno is a sociolinguist and a visiting assistant professor in Georgetown University's Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Her scholarly focus is on the interaction between language and society, the relationship between language and national(ized) identities, political discourse analysis, and the role of language in contemporary media and pop culture, and she has published several articles on these topics in numerous publications. Moreno also enjoys teaching Spanish language courses at all levels; she taught a class supported through the Berkley Center's Doyle Seminars project. She received her Ph.D. in linguistics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the University of California at Berkeley.
