Marwa Elshakry is an associate professor of the history of science at Columbia University, specializing in the history of science, technology, and medicine in the modern Middle East. Elshakry previously taught at Harvard University. She is the author of Reading Darwin in Arabic, 1860-1950 (2013), as well as several articles and essays, including “The Exegesis of Science in Twentieth Century Arabic Interpretations of the Qur'an” in Interpreting Nature and Scripture: History of a Dialogue (2009). She received her B.A. from Rutgers University and M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University.
