Matthew Shadle is professor of theology and religious studies at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. He is also a volunteer representative for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops at the National Council of Church's Faith and Order Convening Tables. His essay "Catholicism and International Affairs Since Vatican II" will be published in the forthcoming Oxford Handbook of Vatican II (2023).
