Michael Brandt is a child clergy abuse survivor. A certified surgical technician with 10 years of experience, following a Stage IV cancer diagnosis he changed careers and completed a degree in fine arts at the California State University, San Bernardino, in 2009. He is now retired due to a permanent disability resulting from a bone marrow transplant stemming from his cancer diagnosis. He enjoys painting, writing poetry, and cooking.
