Cardinal Michael Czerny, S.J., is the prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development since 2022. For the previous five years, he served as an under-secretary of the Dicastery's Migrants and Refugees Section reporting directly to Pope Francis. Earlier he was involved in work for peace, justice, and care for creation in the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and before that in various Jesuit initiatives around the world. Pope Francis named him a cardinal in 2019. With Christian Barone, he co-authored Siblings All, Sign of the Times: The Social Teaching of Pope Francis (2022).
