The Rt. Revd. Michael Lewis has been the Anglican bishop of Cyprus and the Gulf since 2007. From 1999 to 2007 he was bishop of Middleton in the United Kingdom. During that time, he was warden of readers and lay Eucharistic assistants and chaired the Board of Education. Nationally his responsibilities included church colleges and universities and higher education generally. He also served as a governing trustee of St. Michael’s Theological College, Llandaff, in the Church in Wales. He is a member of the International Commission for Anglican-Orthodox Theological Dialogue and on the board of Al Amana Interfaith Centre in the Sultanate of Oman. He has served on the Anglican Consultative Council. He holds a master of arts in Oriental studies from Oxford University and studied further at Cuddesdon Theological College.
