Dr. Michael Soderling left his private OB/GYN
practice in the US to work in Guatemala, spending 11 years (2001-2012) there.
His work included support for Christian mission groups but focused on building
several institutions in health, education, and community development. Inspired
by the gaps that existed in development in Guatemala, he pursued an MBA in International
Development. He is a founding member of what is now the Center for Health in
Mission and serves as the director. It creates spaces for mission innovators to
collaborate, with a particular focus on strategizing innovations in Christian
healthcare services that brings health and wholeness to the nations. He is also involved in catalyzing continued
conversation regarding best practices in global health missions, including through
the Christian Journal for Global Health which
he edits. He is the Lausanne Senior Associate for Health in Mission.
