Monica Slinkard is a nursing and management specialist. She completed her Masters in Nursing at Yale University and is board certified as a women’s health and adult primary care nurse practitioner. In the United States, Burundi, and Nicaragua, Monica has worked on medical curriculum development, organized continuing education for clinics, guest lectured at universities, and consulted on government protocols for medical standards of care. Prior to moving to Africa with LifeNet International, Monica worked as medical director at Mary’s Center, a network of Federally Qualified Community Health Centers, in Washington, DC, where she served as the nurse practitioner supervisor, adult medicine leader, and on the senior medical management team. For the last two years she has served as the medical director at LifeNet International, and has developed curriculum for and managed a team of international workers to execute clinical trainings and partnerships in 45+ clinics across Burundi.
