Mouhanad Khorchide is professor of Islamic religious education, director of the Center for Islamic Theology, and investigator with the Cluster of Excellence in Religion and Politics at the University of Munster. He is also coordinator of the graduate program in Islamic theology sponsored by Stiftung Mercator and head of the project "Qur'an in the Context of Mercy." His recent publications include Gott glaubt an den Menschen (God Believes in Human Beings, 2015), Scharia: der missverstandene Gott (Sharia: The Misunderstood God, 2013), and Islam ist Barmherzigkeit (Islam Is Compassion, 2012). Khorchide holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Vienna and also studied Islamic theology in Lebanon.
