Dr. Nelson Arns Neumann,
son of Pastoral da Criança founder Dr. Zilda Arns Neumann, has been Pastoral’s
acting international coordinator since 2010. Before being tapped for international leadership by Cardinal Geraldo Agnelo, Dr. Nelson served ten years as the adjunct national coordinator for Pastoral. Dr. Nelson is a trained epidemiologist
and physician, having received a doctorate in Public Health from the
Universidade de São Paulo in 2000 after serving two years as a lay missionary
in Bacabal, Maranhão.
