Imam Oumar Diene is the secretary general of the National Association of Imams and Ulama of Senegal, which is a network of Muslim religious leaders. The national network serves as a valuable resource to imams, aiming to mobilize them to improve community development. Imam Diene also serves as the spokesperson for a Senegalese working group of religious leaders promoting maternal and child health. Imam Diene is descended from a long line of religious leaders in Senegal. Outside of his duties as a religious leader, he holds a degree in denturology and is a practicing dental prosthetist. He also serves as president of the International Council of Human Rights of the Red Cross for Senegal.
