Physician Peter Okaalet is executive
director of Okaalet and Associates. He was formerly senior director for
Health and HIV/AIDS Policy at MAP International and a member of MAP’s Global
Council. Okaalet began his medical career in 1980 as a medical officer and later medical superintendent at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Tororo, Uganda, before venturing into
private practice in Malaba. He served as a medical officer with the
AIDS Support Organization in the Tororo branch, as well as a
medical administrator with Bukedi Diocese, and finally as a medical coordinator
and physician-in-charge at the Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology
clinic. He is on the international faculty at Haggai
Institute, a Christian international leadership and evangelism training
organization. In 2005 he was named as one of TIME Magazine’s Global Health
Heroes. Okaalet holds master’s degrees in Divinity and Theology from the
Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology, along with a degree in Medicine from
Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.
