Petra Zaviršek is an undergraduate student at the University of Maribor and a resident of the Jesuit College Magis in Maribor, Slovenia. She is in her first year of studying mechanical engineering. Zaviršek participates in the choir and weekly student Mass offered by Sinaj, a Catholic student group in Maribor. She previously studied conservation and restoration of fine arts in Ljubljana, where she worked in a conservation workshop in the National Library. She is from an area of Slovenia southeast of Ljubljana.
