Ricardo Ortiz is chair and associate professor of US Latinx literature and culture in the Department of English at Georgetown University. His books include Cultural Erotics in Cuban America (2007) and Latinx Literature Now: Between Evanescence and Event (2019). Ortiz has participated in multiple projects at Georgetown focused on diversity, inclusion, and equity for over 20 years, including teaching in and mentoring for the Community Scholars Program, participating twice as a Doyle Faculty Fellow in the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship, serving as a faculty fellow for the Center for Social Justice, Research and Teaching, and helping to launch the Georgetown Scholars Program’s “Mastering the Hidden Curriculum” experimental course for first-generation students. He has also been a committed ally to Georgetown’s LGBTQ Student Resource Center since its creation in 2008.
