Roger Finke is a professor of sociology, religious studies, and international affairs at Pennsylvania State University. His research interests include the sociology of religion, organizations, comparative and historical sociology, and theory. Finke is director of the Association of Religion Data Archives and president of the Association of the Study of Religion, Economics, and Culture. He is also a fellow of the Baylor Institute for Studies of Religion and a senior research fellow at the Mercatus/George Mason University Consortium for the Economic Study of Religion. Finke's publications include, among others, Places of Faith: A Road Trip Across America’s Religious Landscape (2012, with Christopher P. Scheitle), Acts of Faith: Explaining the Human Side of Religion (2000, with Rodney Stark), The Churching of America, 1776-2005: Winners and Losers in Our Religious Economy (2005, with Rodney Stark), and The Price of Freedom Denied: Religious Persecution and Conflict in the 21st Century (2011, Brian Grim). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington, Seattle.
