Archbishop Samuel Enosa Peni was appointed the second Archbishop of Anglican Western Equatoria Internal Province in 2019. He also serves as the fourth bishop of the Diocese of Yambio, South Sudan. Archbishop Peni studied at the University of Dubuque and Wartburg Theological Seminary, receiving a Master of Arts in Theology in 2009 and was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Divinity 10 years later in 2019. He chairs the Inter Church Committee, which is the ecumenical leaders fellowship in Western Equatoria State in South Sudan, where much of the church’s work is devoted to addressing poverty, education, trauma healing, displacement, and refugees.
