Talat Mahmud is education sector director for
Save the Children in Bangladesh. He manages a large education portfolio, which
includes projects on early childhood development, non-formal and
formal primary education, madrasa education, adolescent development,
technical and vocational education, multilingual education, and school disaster
management projects. He has 20 years of experience supporting both formal and
non-formal primary education and early childhood education programs in
Bangladesh and abroad. Mahmud served as the research coordinator on the
“Reading for Children” action research project, as well as an ethnographic
research project on “Learning and Using Literacy” in rural Bangladesh. He has also
served on the working group to review the national primary education curriculum
for the Bangladesh National Curriculum and Textbook Board. He contributed to
the development of the non-formal education equivalency national framework and
the non-formal education teachers’ capacity development framework. He
holds master's degrees in education and economics.
