Teresa Okure, SHCJ, is a sister of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus and a professor of New Testament and gender hermeneutics at the Catholic Institute of West Africa in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She has served in various leadership roles at the Catholic Institute, including academic dean, dean of student affairs, and head of the Department of Biblical Studies. Okure is a member of various national and international theological and biblical associations, the founding president of the Catholic Biblical Association of Nigeria, and a well-known biblical scholar who has lectured widely. She is a co-editor of the biblical commentary series Texts @ Contexts (2010-) and Global Bible Commentary (2004). Okure earned her Ph.D. at Fordham University.
