Tierra Hatfield (G’22) was a graduate student in the M.A. in Conflict Resolution program at Georgetown University, where she also pursued a certificate in global human development. Her interests in social justice and education stem from her passion for sustainable development and her humanitarian background in conflict and crisis areas. Prior to joining Georgetown, Tierra worked in international development for three years, monitoring and evaluating USAID multi-sector humanitarian assistance responses in Somalia and Iraq. She has an international background with over 18 years based in Africa—Kenya, Malawi, and South Africa. During her time at Georgetown, she produced a capstone project on multi-donor trust funds in partnership with Inclusive Peace and worked as a research fellow for the UN’s World Food Programme on developing best practices for the operationalization of the humanitarian-development-peace nexus. Tierra was also a 2020 Education and Social Justice project fellow.
