Dr. Yolanda Covington-Ward is associate professor of Africana studies and anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on the dynamic multidirectional relationship between physical bodies and group identity. She is the author of Gesture and Power: Religion, Nationalism, and Everyday Performance in Congo (2016).
