November 23, 2021

This report, co-authored by Senior Research Fellow Peter Mandaville and published by the United States Institute of Peace, offers specific suggestions for steps the U.S. government can take to clarify the nature of its religious engagement mission. Drawing on the authors' decades of experience working within and outside government, the report also offers recommendations to improve the coordination of U.S. government religious engagement with other peacebuilding and national security priorities. The report was funded through an interagency agreement between the United States Institute of Peace and the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the U.S. Agency for International Development.
