This document summarizes a policy consultation exploring the religious dimensions of fragile and conflict states held December 16, 2013 at the Berkley Center. The meeting focused on the Rohingya community and the growing interreligious tensions in Myanmar and Bangladesh. Anti-Muslim discrimination and related violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine state, including its national and regional impact, were a central topic of discussion. An important issue was the central but complex roles religious actors play in current unrest and in efforts to look to solutions.
