This article, co-authored by Senior Research Fellow Rev. Gerard J. McGlone, S.J., explores the psychological evaluation of candidates to the priesthood. The article proposes the following anthropological and methodological assessment model that hopefully will serve as a template for the collaboration between seminary formators and psychologists. It addresses some of the core dimensions and most salient phases of the assessment experience based on principles derived from the Program for Priestly Formation and on professional and ethical standards outlined by the American Psychological Association. This article was published in Seminary Journal 16, no. 1 (Spring 2010): 53–59.
