This article, co-authored by Senior Research Fellow Rev. Gerard J. McGlone, S.J., explores the use of the Rorschach Inkblot Method (RIM) in seminaries and religious institutes in their assessment of candidates. McGlone and his co-author, Donald J. Viglione, consider if the Rorschach test is useful today by using the best available psychological research. They conclude that RIM is a highly useful assessment tool, especially in the context of the clerical sexual abuse crisis in the Catholic Church. The article, published in Spirituality in Clinical Practice, concludes with a call for establishing a credentialing and certification program for psychologists and Church personnel.
