Promoting Peace and Social Justice in Colombia

During May and June 2018, Erin Luck spent three weeks in Bogotá, Colombia at Javeriana University (La Pontificia Universidad Javeriana) as part of the Education and Social Justice Project, an ongoing initiative of the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs and the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching, and Service at Georgetown University. While there, she conducted interviews with students, professors, and affiliates of the university on the Jesuit identity of Javeriana and its social justice work, specifically with regard to the recent peace accords signed in November 2016 and the end of over five decades of civil war. She worked to understand how the university promotes reconciliation, peace, and social change.
