In the United States and around the world, college and university campuses are at the forefront of innovative efforts that further interreligious and intercultural understanding. Two global, interrelated challenges—the refugee crisis and violent extremism among youth—are important areas where institutions of higher education are making distinctive contributions.
Scholars, community leaders, and students from around the world discussed how colleges and universities can work together to integrate refugees into wider communities and address the challenges of alienation and lack of opportunity among youth through education. These participants were members of the International Higher Education Interfaith Leadership Forum (IHEILF), an international group of higher education representatives participating in the 2016 President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge National Gathering.
