International Higher Education Interfaith Leadership Forum
In 2015, a new initiative was created to internationalize the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge, called the International Higher Education Interfaith Leadership Forum (IHEILF). IHEILF is an ongoing partnership between four groups: colleges and universities, led by Georgetown University; seminaries, led by Hartford Seminary; government partners such as the White House, Department of Education, State Department, and USAID; and foundations, led by the International Shinto Foundation. The program brings together international representatives in higher education to focus on the development of interfaith leadership formation and share experiences and promising practices across countries. The program effort honors religious pluralism, advances religious literacy, and fosters interreligious understanding and cooperation.
