Sexuality and the Sacred Self

Towards a Healthy Understanding After Abuse

October 24-25, 2022
Location: Online Zoom Webinar

Understanding sexuality is a difficult task; abuse survivors face unique and complex challenges in this sacred and important effort. Considerations of past teachings and opportunities to learn moving forward framed this two-evening event where participants found space to ask questions they may have never been able to ask.

The first evening was a presentation webinar, with the second evening dedicated to group discussion and processing. This unique format is designed to enhance safety and trust because conversations about sexuality can be difficult, uncomfortable, and triggering especially for survivors in ways that don’t allow for good personal care and reflection. This event was intended for victim-survivors and those who care for them.

This event was co-sponsored by the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and Georgetown University's Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs.
