Join us for an evocative evening with award-winning illustrator and artist George Butler, as he presents his latest work, Ukraine: Remember Also Me. This compelling collection of vivid and powerful testimonies from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is brought to life through Butler’s striking and intimate illustrations.

While reporting on the war in Ukraine, Butler created art that goes beyond mere representation; his drawings serve as a profound introduction to the people behind the headlines. From the metro stations of Kharkiv where people and animals took refuge, to the hospitals and bombed-out streets, Butler’s work captures stories of family, tragedy, and perseverance amidst the chaos of war.

Ukraine: Remember Also Me is a stunning and sensitive exploration of the human condition during conflict, offering a timely reminder of the shared humanity and universal need for peace that binds us all. Butler’s art illuminates the personal stories that deserve to be told, providing a unique and essential perspective on the ongoing conflict.

This evening also will feature insights from Lise Morjé Howard, a leading expert on war, peace, and security at Georgetown University. A reception will follow.

This event is part of the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs collaboration with the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.
