Writing for the New York Times, Senior Fellow Paul Elie reviews medievalist Peter Heather's book Christendom: The Triumph of a Religion, AD 300-1300 (2023). Elie describes Heather's intent as a re-examination of “the historical processes that first generated the defining coincidence between Europe and the cultural dominance of the Christian religion."
