High Level Consultation on Strengthening Partnerships Between Faith Actors and Multilateral Agencies to Achieve Better Development Outcomes

Author: Katherine Marshall

October 15, 2019

This keynote address was delivered by Katherine Marshall, a senior fellow at the Berkley Center, at the 2019 Civil Society Forum hosted by the World Bank. Her remarks focused on enhancing the reach and impact of development efforts within the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework. In her speech, she stressed the challenges associated with the SDGs and the vital importance of partnerships. No one actor or sector can succeed working alone; she emphasized how important relationships are to sharing efforts, and the effort that is required if they are to achieve their potential. Faith actors represent vast networks, extraordinary experience and history, and rich ideas and intellectual resources, as do multilateral agencies working for development. The challenge is to learn from past experience, positive and negative, in working in partnerships and to highlight possible new approaches looking ahead.
