Reflections on Liturgy and Community in the Midst of the COVID-19 Crisis

Author: Amelia Uelmen

Writing on the Mirror of Justice blog, Amy Uelmen considers the actions of religious institutions, particularly the Catholic Church, across the globe. While some have painted the closure of churches as "cowardly capitulation," Uelmen understands this as an act of deep morality and solidarity. By reflecting on Catholic social teaching and the one "body" of Christ, Uelmen argues that it is the responsibility of every piece of the body (or, the entire population) to keep this body safe. Uelmen also discusses her inclination toward prayer and the solace it might bring during this crisis.
