Youth Engagement with Religion and Faith in the 21st Century

Author: Katherine Marshall

December 16, 2021

This summary report reflects an interreligious project—led by Religions for Peace and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum—to seek youth inputs on critical global agenda issues, notably peace, environmental matters, and humanitarian action. The continuing partnership involved a call for papers on these topics, presented at a symposium in July 2021 co-sponsored by the Berkley Center. This report draws on the symposium discussion and the background papers to provide an overview of major challenges and possibilities of youth engagement with religion and faith in the twenty-first century. The World Faiths Development Dialogue (WFDD) worked with Religions for Peace to highlight the vital insights that emerged from this dialogue process, and WFDD Executive Director Katherine Marshall, who also serves as a senior fellow at the Berkley Center, prepared the report.
