A Conversation on Facts, Faith, and the Future of American Politics

Wednesday, November 19, 2025
2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. EST
Location: Old North Hall Room 205 Map

At a time when our political divisions in the United States can sometimes resemble a kind of religious war, this conversation addressed an important question: Should journalists be covering politics more like they cover religion? Sarah McCammon, a national political correspondent at NPR, and James V. Grimaldi, former executive editor of the National Catholic Reporter, explored the state of American politics and religion and the role of faith and facts in our national dialogue. Terence Samuel, former editor-in-chief of USA Today and the fall 2025 Sakka Family Religion and International Journalism Fellow, moderated the conversation.

This event was co-sponsored by the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs and the Georgetown Journalism Program.
