Despite a 2,000-year history of Jewish-Christian relations, no single collection of primary documents chronicling this relationship and covering its major themes and developments has existed until now. Edward Kessler, a world-renowned expert on Jewish-Christian-Muslim relations, and accomplished author Neil Wenborn have met that need with the 600-page A Documentary History of Jewish-Christian Relations: From Antiquity to the Present Day (Cambridge University Press, 2024). They enlisted the help of a team of eight well-known figures in Jewish-Christian relations and organized an enormous amount of material, mostly excerpts with commentaries, into nine chapters divided into three parts, covering the first 900 years, the second 900 years, and from 1800 to the present. The volume reveals details and insights regarding centuries of a troubled history of relations and the massive changes of attitudes and approaches in recent centuries.
In this webinar Edward Kessler presented his book and responded to questions and comments from a panel of experts.
