Conference on Islam and Education in North America

At this event participants reviewed the opportunities and challenges of translating Islamic education into the North American context. Speakers included Sulayman Nyang, professor of Political Science and African Studies, Howard University; Zakiyyah Muhammad, founding director of the Institute of Islamic Education in America; and Jasmine Zine, assistant professor of Sociology, Wilfred Laurier University.
The event was co-sponsored by the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs, the Office of the Muslim Chaplain, and the Wilson Center.
