Released in October 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the encyclical Fratelli Tutti ("Brothers and Sisters All") marked an important juncture in the development of Catholic social thought. Pope Francis' call for human fraternity, social friendship, and a culture of encounter built on the teaching of his predecessors, adapting the tradition to the challenges of a divided world. In this talk, Thomas Banchoff, director of the Georgetown University Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs, will discuss the message of Fratelli Tutti and its significance for our current global moment.
