Many of today’s international crises have a strong religious component, yet media coverage often omits or oversimplifies these complexities and nuances. The Berkley Center believes that a deep examination of faith and values is critical to address today’s global challenges, and that the open engagement of religious and cultural traditions with one another can promote peace. With this mission in mind, the center selects one Georgetown student annually to receive the Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellowship. Projects investigate or illuminate the religious dimension of an international or domestic issue, bringing to light what is often overlooked, untold, or misunderstood. Applications open on December 1, 2021 for the summer 2022 round of fellowships.

Given complications resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, we will accept applications for reporting that can be done in your country of residence or remotely. You may propose international or domestic projects, with in-person-only reporting, remote-only reporting, or a hybrid model using some remote reporting and some in-person reporting. Any in-person reporting must follow local health and safety guidelines and is subject to any Georgetown University travel restrictions.

This information session offers a chance to learn what the fellowship entails and how it is structured. It is also an opportunity to ask Pulitzer Center staff and Ryann Craig, the Berkley Center's director of student programs, questions about application requirements and expectations.
