Throughout his twelve year pontificate, Pope Francis made human fraternity and dialogue with the Muslim world a priority. During his 2019 visit to Abu Dhabi— the first trip by a pope to the Gulf region—he signed a "Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together" with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb. Five years later, during the last international trip of his papacy, Pope Francis visited Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation. How does the legacy of Pope Francis continue to advance human fraternity in Indonesia and around the world? How did the document chart a new path in Catholic-Muslim and interreligious relations more broadly? The Human Fraternity Fellows Program, a collaboration between the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity (AbuDhabi) and the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs (Georgetown University) will host a public conversation around these questions. A reception will follow.
