Souled Out? Faith and Politics After the Religious Right

April 3, 2008

E.J. Dionne was joined by Ray Suarez, a senior correspondent for PBS NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, to discuss Dionne's new book, Souled Out, and the future of religion's role in American public life; Georgetown President John J. DeGioia introduced the speakers. Dionne and Suarez went over the main issues presented in the book: that many Americans are reclaiming the public face of faith from leaders who have been using it for narrow ideological aims, and that many secular Americans are consequently recognizing that they share common ground with religious activists on a host of prominent issues.
This event was co-sponsored by the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs and the GPPI Forum on Faith and Policy.
