Alan Sipress is a former senior editor on the International Desk for the Washington Post, where he previously covered the Middle East, federal policy and accountability, and economics and finance. He was the Middle East correspondent for the Philadelphia Inquirer based in Cairo from 1992 to 1996 and the Southeast Asia bureau chief for the Washington Post based in Jakarta from 2002 to 2006.
