Sister Alessandra Smerilli, FMA, is interim secretary of the Vatican's Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and a delegate of the Vatican COVID-19 commission. She has formerly served roles in several other Vatican bodies and was also a professor of political economy at the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences Auxilium in Rome.
