Alphonso F. Saville, IV, is the Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow for American Religion and Slavery in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at Georgetown University. A scholar of American religious history, his teaching and research interests include American religious history, slavery and religion in America, and leadership development for faith and community leaders. He holds a B.A. from New York University, an M.A. from Memphis Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from Emory University.
