Ankushi Mitra (G'27) is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Government at Georgetown University. She studies the politics of migration and displacement, focusing on three lines of research: one, on the determinants of migration and refugee policy in the global south; two, on collective action and political mobilization among migrant and refugee communities, and three, on the ethics and methods of research among politically vulnerable populations. Her work has been published or is forthcoming in journals like the International Migration Review, Politics, Groups, and Identities, PS: Political Science and Politics, the Third World Quarterly, and the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies. She is a 2023-2024 fellow of the American Political Science Association's Institute for Civically Engaged Research, and a 2024-2025 predoctoral fellow of the Young Initiative on the Global Political Economy at Occidental College. Outside academia, she has worked for international humanitarian and development organizations, including the World Bank and UNHCR. At the Berkley Center she worked as a graduate fellow under Executive Director Michael Kessler from June through August 2024.
