Arisa Yamada is an undergraduate student majoring in international legal studies at Sophia University and is a member of the IAJU Global Citizenship Fellows Program 2025 cohort. She is passionate about social justice and environmental issues, and she has experience advocating against discrimination, having given a speech on the topic at a competition. While she was in high school, Arisa participated in discussion sessions and learned about social issues in the Philippines, such as the impacts of the landfill called Smoky Mountain and various cases of gender inequality. Arisa plans to explore issues in Latin America next, and she hopes to gain diverse perspectives through discussions with students who have different cultural backgrounds. Outside of her academic interests, she enjoys traveling and music.
