Ayten Birhanie is the executive director at the Peace and Development Center Ethiopia. His areas of research include peacebuilding, conflict management, transformation, sustainable development, social justice, youth empowerment, human and democratic rights, and Horn of Africa society and politics. Before assuming his current position, he founded the New Abyssinia College and served there as the college dean and general manager. He was a participant in the International Higher Education Interfaith Leadership Forum. Birhanie received a M.A. in peace education from the University Peace. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and social anthropology from Unity University, as well as a B.A. in business education from Addis Ababa University.
