Benigno Orellana is a farmer and father of five in Carasque, Nueva Trinidad, Chalatenango in El Salvador. At age sixteen, he entered the El Salvador civil war on the side of the guerilla army. After returning to the village six years later, he took on various leadership roles. He has served two terms on the community directive and participates regularly in community meetings. He is appreciative of the educational opportunities currently available to his children.
